Update: Added some unconfirmed LEGO Technic sets for 2012 and some interesting news regarding exclusive sets.
LEGO Technic 2012:
9390 Mini Tow Truck
9391 Tracked Crane
9392 Quad Bike
9394 Jet Plane
9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck
There was an interesting topic about a rumoured list of 2012 LEGO exclusive sets. Within 6 hours of this news leak, the list was asked to be removed from the source and from other LEGO blog sites by TLG. Seems to me this list has hit a raw nerve and hence it’s quick removal. I have seen the list but I cannot list it here as I do not want LEGO to breath fire down my neck
. All I can say is that, the list had 5 sets on it; 2 Star Wars, 1 Castle, 1 WWI and 1 Modular/City/Town (not sure).
I’ve been trolling various websites and blogs reading all about the rumours regarding the 2012 LEGO sets that will launch in January. With so much new information, I’ve decided to put up a summarized post of all my findings:
LEGO 2012 New Themes:
There’s news about 2 new upcoming LEGO themes for 2012. First up, is a girl-oriented theme titled “Friends”. It will feature sets that look like doll houses and come along with girly stuff like cars, horses, vets, cafes etc. The minifig will not be the regular LEGO minifigs we know. I’ve seen a sneak peek of this new minifig but as usual it’s not safe to put up the pic (you know what I mean). This minifig looks every bit like a typical mini-doll for doll houses. It comes with a nice hairdo, pretty blouse and pants, big eyes, lego hands, flesh tone and slender non-LEGO type legs.
As for the other new LEGO theme, it sounds like a revamp of the short-lived theme of LEGO Dino Attack/Dino 2010. The sets will kinda be Jurassic Park style with traps and many different dinosaurs.

LEGO Creator 2012:
4636 Police Set
4637 Safari Set
7346 Summer House
4636 and 4637 will be sets that feature multiple builds of police vehicles and safari animals. As for 7346, I suppose it follows the tradition of Creator-themed houses every year.
LEGO Games 2012:
3863 Kokarikoo
3864 Minitaurus
3865 City – Alarm
3866 Star Wars – Battle of Hoth
LEGO Star Wars 2012:
9674 Naboo Starfighter and Naboo Pilot
9675 Sebulba’s Podracer and Sebulba
9676 TIE Interceptor and TIE Pilot
9488 ARC Troopers vs. Commando Droids
9489 Endor Rebel (x2) vs. Scout Trooper & Stormtrooper
9490 Droid Escape
9491 Geonosian Cannon
9492 TIE Fighter
9493 X-Wing
9494 Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Interceptor
9495 Y-Wing Gold Leader
3866 Battle of Hoth (LEGO Games)
According to Jedi News, 9674, 9675 & 9676 are a new range of “planet” sets that feature a hollow planet, a mini vehicle and a minifig.
LEGO Cars 2012:
9478 Francesco Bernoulli
9479 Ivan Mater
9480 Finn McMissile
9481 Jeff Gorvette
9483 Mater’s Escape
9484 Red Water’s Rescue
9485 Ultimate Race Set
9486 Oil Rig Escape
Looks like the LEGO Cars theme is popular enough to warrant another year’s worth of release! Looking at this list really makes me sit up with anticipation. On a side note, it seems like LEGO will release a bunch of Disney Princess DUPLO sets. These sets will include various Disney Princesses like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and more.
LEGO Super Heroes 2012:
6858 Batman vs. Catwoman
6862 Superman vs. Lex Luthor
6863 Batman vs. the Joker
6864 Batman vs. Two Face
6860 The Batcave
6865 Captain America
6866 X-Men
6867 Iron Man
6868 Hulk and Thor
6869 Avengers
4526 Batman
4527 The Joker
4528 Green Lantern
4529 Iron Man
4597 Captain America
4530 The Hulk
Wow… looks like LEGO is really going strong on this Super Heroes theme. According to All About Bricks, the DC Super Heroes sets will be released first then followed by the Marvel Super Heroes sets. Set numbers beginning with “45XX” are all Hero Factory styled sets. I’m not really keen with these especially after the sneak preview pics taken by Ace of FBTB at the recent SDCC 2011. Just imagine… A Hero Factory styled Joker set

LEGO City 2012:
4205 Off Road Command Centre
4208 Fire Truck
4209 Fire Plane
4427 Fire ATV
4430 Fire Transporter
4431 Ambulance
4432 Garbage Truck
4433 Dirt Bike Transporter
4434 Tipper Truck
4435 Car and Caravan
4436 Police Patrol Car
4437 Police Pursuit
4439 Police Heavy Lift Helicopter
4440 Forest Police Station
4441 Police Dog Van
4442 Crooks Hideout
This is the huge list of LEGO City 2012 sets provided by Mirandir from Eurobricks and All About Bricks. You might be wondering why Police and Fire themes again. Well, these are not exactly the usual stuff but instead they are branching it out to Forest Police and Forest Fire! These sets will feature ranger-type officers with new animals and off-road type vehicles. Pretty interesting I must say.
LEGO Ninjago 2012:
9440 Venomari Shrine
9441 Kai’s Blade Cycle
9442 Jay’s Storm Fighter
9443 Rattle Copter
9444 Cole’s Tread Assault
9445 Fangpyre Truck Ambush
9446 Destiny’s Bounty
First of all, here’s some information quoted from Mirandir:
“Lord Garmadon is now fighting on the Ninja side. He is replaced as the main villain by his son Lloyd Garmadon and his army of snake men. They battle over the contol of five snake staffs that hold mystical powers. The ninjas and Sensei Wu has left the dojo and now uses a flying boat as their main HQ. As I said the sets are for the most parts vehicles: motorcyckles, planes, tanks, helicopters. There’s even a crane with a wrecking ball(!).
New molds that I’ve spotted is a Sai blade, another blade that looks newish but could come from Hero Factory or similar, a snake staff/cobra, another snake staff, a brick tha has a molded brick wall texture and 1×1 round tiles. The Spinjitzu game gets an overhaul and gets a little bit more advanced.
- A new spinner will be introduced that lets you attach things with technic pins underneath.
- There’s also a thing called crowns and cards that can you play to put the crown on or force the opponent to remove it. There’s also cards that seems to only be playable while there a crown on the spinner.
- There are new cards that requires a certain sp in all four elements to be played.
- There are cards where you challenge the opponent on a due in spinning skills and if you win you get to reclaim a lost weapon.
- There will apparently be booster packs…
And finally yes, there’s talk of a green ninja. He’s not in the first wave but amongst other things he’s on the packaging (Yes, the boxes will be green instead of red). However it’s apparantly not a *new* ninja as it seems like one of the four current ones will evolve into the green ninja.”
Judging from the names of the rumoured sets, it seems like the Venomari is the name of the new race featured in 2012 (I might be wrong). Also, if you look carefully, the new sets seems to be geared towards modern vehicles rather than traditional dojos and ninja stuff
.
Note: Everything written in this post are rumours. Please take it with a pinch of salt. Nothing it finalized till we get the official word from LEGO.
